1) We were fleeing the caves thanks to a wall of ice that was erected by a mage we had rescued. We made it out of the cave complex with the villagers that we were looking to rescue. Leaving the cave complex, we circled around to the front (the area we initially fought our way through to get inside the complex).
We then started brainstorming on what to do. On one hand, we needed to get the prisoners to safety as soon as possible. On the other hand, we needed to do something about the orcs that were chasing us.
We found a small ravine to the north. We put the prisoners in a small cave to keep them as safe as possible and then decided that we'd ambush the orcs that were chasing us.
The ravine had a small stream running down the middle of it and the rock was generally lime stone. The southern entrance was 5' wide and the northern entrance was 6' to 7' wide. There were a few limestone towers that rose up in the middle of the ravine and one by the southern entrance.
We decided that we should try and knock the pillar by the southern entrance down and block the southern entrance. We set up around the ravine and Xog positioned himself behind the limestone pillar towards the southern entrance. He would be the one to push the pillar over.
Hooth searched around for dead wood that we could burn in order to create a flaming barrier between ourselves and the worgs. Unfortunately, there wasn't any dry wood in the ravine due to the season and the fact that there was a lot of moisture in the air from the stream. It was a great idea, but a poor location for execution.
2) We see about 20 orcs approach with a small contingency of worgs (approximately 6). Wrento was spotted first by a worg and the worg let out a ear-splitting howl. They advanced, but D'Gar fired a crossbow bolt that sailed right through an orc, dropping it to the ground.
Beld took aim with a sling bullet and send the bullet off the leg of an orc. The bullet shattered bone and left the orc howling in pain on the ground. Wrento took fire with a crossbow, but unfortunately he critically fumbled. It was almost as bad as the time he turned and fled in the face of danger. Almost.
Mrag fired a crossbow at a worg and took out one of its legs. The bolt sailed through the leg, crunching bone, and the leg fell off as a fountain of blood erupted from the beast. More missile fire followed in the surprise round and we were able to take out some more enemies.
Combat continued and we managed to push the limestone column over and it fell over onto most of the orcs, killing them. We managed to fight off the rest of them and the regrouped to rest and heal.
3) We decided, after much debate, to head back to Ma'Cab. We were told by Craega that we were unfit for the mission. We went back to get our horses and were surprised to find them alive.
Beld cast detect magic upon our loot and found that a bunch of it was magical.
