1) We continued up the path and towards the fortress within the woods. We came upon a small encampment with a cooking fire. We found that there was an ogre, three orcs, and a worg waitng there. The ogre was cooking at the fire and we decided that we needed a plan.
Daka and D'Gar moved up onto one of the cliffs above the encampment and Xog moved up onto the cliff opposite from Daka and D'Gar.
Xog rolled a boulder down onto the ogre and the cooking fire. Xog shouted a war cry to honor his clan and braced himself as the worg climbed up the cliff to seek revenge for the wound from the boulder.
Craega, Wrento, and Beld charged in to combat together, but Craega had already been wounded before combat began. Craega took a serious strike to his left leg, but Beld quickly healed him. However, no good deed goes unpunished. Beld was quickly struck from the side by a remaining orc. The wound was pretty bad, but Beld looked like he'd pull through.
Craega, on the other hand, was not so lucky. Just as his arm was coming back, it was yet again lopped off by an orc. There was roughly 27% of Craega's arm remaining and a fountain of blood. Was this the end of Craega as we knew it?
Nope. Surprisingly enough Xog was learned in the ways of combat AND first aid. He stopped the bleeding from Craega's arm and stabilized the halfling. Wow. I guess miracles do happen.
We finished 'em off and then took small curative measures while regrouping. We deliberated our next move. As some people were very beat up, we decided to rest and let Beld get his clerical miracles back.
After healing everyone who needed it, we decided to continue without resting further. It was a bit of a debate, but Wrento insisted that we must continue to protect the captives and prevent any further harm from coming to them. While we needed the rest and additional spells, the group begrudgingly agreed with him.
IRREGARDLESS.
2) Hooth scouted ahead and found that there were two caves ahead at the end of the canyon. Hooth returned to the opening of the canyon (where we were) and drew a picture in the dirt of what lied ahead. There were two openings that were 50 feet apart from one another. Both of the two entrances had ramps leading up to them as they were 8 feet off the ground.
Craega suggested that we attack both entrances simultaneously so that no alarm would (in theory) be sounded. He suggested we use missile weapons and take down the guards at the two entrances. D'Gar suggested that we draw the orcs out of the caves by creating something that would lure them out to the front of the canyon and possibly beyond.
We finally decided that D'Gar would sneak around to attack the left-most guard on the left entrance. Xog would sneak around to the right-most guard on the right. The rest of us would attack the two guards close to each other in the middle with missile weapons.
As D'Gar tried to climb across (from left to right) the cliff, she almost slipped and fell. However, she didn't and made it to the orc. She successfully hit the orc and dealt a nasty slice to the femoral artery. The orc fell off the ramp and bled to death.
On the other side, Xog silently crept around to the other ramp and struck the right-most guard. He whacked the guard with his great mace, which caused a large, crunching sound. Then, he grabbed the guard's leg and pulled him off the ramp.
The rest of us fired our missile weapons and let loose a deadly barrage of sling bullets and other projectiles. The guards were completely surprised and we took them out without any resistance.
3) We then formed a marching order and then went into the right-hand opening. Feeling that we were infringing on his piety and virtuous ways, Wrento went alone into the cave opening on the left. We went down the corridor on the right and came upon a couple of guards. Combat between Wrento/guards and everyone else/guards erupted simultaneously. Both sides made it through combat successfully without taking much damage at all.
4) We (on the right) came upon a room with 6 worgs sleeping there. We managed to kill 3 and then the other 3 got up and attempted to use us as their supper. After a bloody combat, we managed to kill the remaining 3 worgs. The party suffered some injuries, but none of our companions fell in combat.
